Congratulations to the Class of 2019! They will graduate on Friday, May 24. Our graduates are headed all over the country to continue their post-KPA education, and we are praying that God blesses each one of them!

We want to congratulate our very own Headmaster, who is now DR. Squires! Dr. Squires successfully defended his dissertation earlier this month, graduating with his EdD from Liberty University. He was surprised with a special gift at a school-wide assembly last Friday. We are proud of you, Dr. Squires!

First graders each got to choose an American hero to research. They spent the last few weeks learning all about their heroes, and on Monday they participated in the “American History Living Museum” where they each played the part of their hero and told the audience all about them. Great job, first grade!

Congratulations to Headmaster Squires on the completion of his EdD from Liberty University. He is now Dr. Squires! We are proud of you!

Ms. Mock has been at KPA for 5 years! What a blessing she is to our school.

2nd graders took a field trip to Lowe’s Home Improvement Store to learn more about plants and how to care for them!

Fourth grade finished their study of the eye with a dissection of a cow eyeball. They were thankful to have Dr. Justin Anderson to lead us through.

First graders had a special visit from Mr. John Robison after their weather unit. Thank you for visiting, Mr. Robison! 

Pre-K celebrated transportation this week with a bus ride and road rally!

Kindergarten visited Headmaster Squires office to observe his Texas Flag that flew over the state capitol.
Mrs. Sides’s class hatched praying mantises during the kindergarten insect unit.

Second graders celebrated Ms. Mock on her birthday with flowers and a frog fruit pizza!

KPA’s Friday Scientists experimented with chemistry this week. Fun conversations emerged along with some great reactions-both chemical and physical.

4th grade remembered Abraham Lincoln this week by dressing up in black beards and tall hats and reciting the Gettysburg Address.

Our 4th graders experienced electrical safety through live demonstrations and hands-on activities today at the South Plains Electric Co-Op.

Evening of the Arts was a beautiful showcase of our students’ gifts and talents! High School boys got Runner-Up at the TAPPS State Golf Tournament this week.
Two players received all-state placements: Banner Scarborough got 5th, and Cade Sands got 8th.
Congratulations for a great showing at their first ever state tournament!!!

Golf:

The HS team got 2nd last week and shot a season low of 357 at Reed. They are improving every day! Parents–we would love to have you out on Monday to support the team in Plainview. Great job, guys!

Track:

Track is in full swing with track meets every week.  Our HS had a track meet last Friday and then turned around and had another track meet this Tuesday.  We had an awesome track meet as our boys finished 2nd place overall and our girls placed 3rd overall.   Every track member (19 of them) hit a season best in one or more of their events.  It is fun watching everyone get better every week.   Here are some top 5 finishes:

Tennis:

Great stuff happening in Tennis this week!

Hs is at regionals (Fort Worth) Thursday and Friday of this week.   Our HS Boys and Girls were both Regional Champions last year and we are sending a full team there and excited to see how our teams compete as well as our individuals.
In Junior High, KPA held our 1st annual tournament and had 55 tennis players compete.  It is exciting to have us host a tournament and it was a huge success!  Thank you Coach Arcisz and Coach Mike for your hard work getting the 1st annual Kingdom Prep tournament off the ground!  We were able to walk away with some awards as well:   Kara Hawthorne and Micah Pfannenstiel won first place in Girls Doubles while Grace Klein and Callie Fleischman won second.  Sam Crews and Davis Wooten won 3rd place in boys doubles.  Last, Addison Babb won 4th place in girls singles!   Way to go Warriors!

Coach Arcisz celebrated his birthday yesterday with the HS tennis team in Fort Worth and by the looks of this, they had a fun time!

Congratulations to these Warrior artists!

The following students were selected to represent KPA in the Art Trail in the Village: 1st grade—Lana Alpizer, Phoebe DePoe, Audrey Sinclair; 2nd grade—Austin Massey, Mason Rogers, Camden Smith, Ella Young; 3rd—Mattea Edwards, Autumn Lovett, J.D. Morton, Kate Poe, Aubrey Ridenour, Trevyn Sheppard; 4th grade—Blakely Farmer, Garrett Holtzman, Joey Zant; 5th grade—Garner Canada, Titus Grassie, Kallie Lampe, Libby Nicholson.

Lana, Mason, Blakely, Kate, and Kallie made the finals and will have their works displayed in the Village Shopping Center’s both at the Lubbock Arts Festival.

In addition, Blakely won a $100 savings certificate.

Thanks to everyone who voted for our Warrior Artists!

These 4th graders aced their skeleton quiz and musculoskeletal exam after learning to label bones on a 3D model, themselves, and with Dr. Ramsey. They also manipulated models of the scapula, vertebrae, and arm to see how the muscles, ligaments, and tendons inside our bodies actually work. Thank you, Dr. Ramsey, for sharing your knowledge with us!

The 8th and 11th graders had a great time on their Spring Break trips to Washington, D.C., and the Grand Tour of Greece & Italy. If you didn’t have a chance to read the Grand Tour blog, you can check it out here. Here are just a few photos of each trip.
