Statement of Faith

  1. The Word of God. We believe the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments are the only inspired, infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God, complete as a revelation of God’s will for salvation, and the supreme and final authority in faith and life (2 Timothy 3:15; 2 Peter 1: 21; Revelation 22:19). We adhere to the Bible’s orthodox interpretation regarding all matters including, but not limited to, the sanctity of life beginning at conception, and the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman. We believe all other books external to the Bible (i.e. Book of Mormon, Non-Protestant Bible translations, modern day writings from Bible teachers, etc.) are man’s attempt to interpret God’s Word and thus should not be held as the inspired Word of God.
  2. The Trinity. We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person is fully God, distinct and yet fully one (Genesis 1:26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 28:19).
  3. God the Father. We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit; perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe He concerns himself mercifully in the affairs of men, hears and answers prayer, and saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ (John 16:23-27; Galatians 4:4-6; Ephesians 1:3; Ephesians 1:17-23).
  4. God the Son. We believe that Jesus Christ is God’s eternal son. He is true God and true man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. We also believe in His sinless life, His substitutionary atonement, His death, His bodily resurrection from the dead, His ascension into Heaven, His priestly intercession on behalf of His people, and His personal, visible, return from Heaven (Matthew 1:18, 23; Luke 24:1-8; Matthew 12:40; Acts 2:27; Ephesians 4:8-10; John 1:14; Acts 1:11; 2 Corinthians 5:19-21; Hebrews 4:14-16; Hebrews 7:24-25; Revelation 19, 20).
  5. God the Holy Spirit. We believe the Holy Spirit is a person and is fully God. He regenerates, baptizes into the body of Christ, and indwells every believer; guides and empowers believers, and gives gifts to all believers to be used in ministry so that the church functions properly. We affirm all the gifts of the Holy Spirit as necessary for the building up of the body of Christ (Matthew 28:19; John 3:5; John 16:13; Acts 1:8; Acts 5:3-4; 1 Corinthians 6:11, 19; 1 Corinthians 12:4-13; Romans 12:3-8; Ephesians 3:16; Ephesians 4:11-16).
  6. The Deity of Christ. We believe in the deity of Christ (John 10:33) in that He was completely God and completely human; He (Christ) was not a created being such as the angels are; His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:35); His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15; 7:26); His miracles (John 2:11); His vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 2:9); His physical bodily resurrection (John 11:25; 1 Corinthians 15:4); His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19); and His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11).
  7. Man. We believe God originally created man, male and female, in the image of God and free from sin. We further believe that man, because of his fall through Adam, is a sinner by nature and choice and is therefore spiritually dead, in need of salvation (Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 2:7-3:19; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12-21; Romans 6:23).
  8. Salvation. We believe in salvation by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ. We further believe that this salvation is based upon the sovereign grace of God, was purchased by Christ on the cross, and is received by man through faith alone, apart from any human merit, works, or ritual. Salvation results in righteous living, good works, and proper social concern (John 1:12; John 3:3-7; John 5:24; Romans 3:21-24; Romans 5:1-2; Ephesians 2:8-10; 1 Timothy 2:5).
  9. Last Things. We believe in the bodily resurrection of all mankind; the eternal, conscious existence of all men, either in Heaven or Hell; and in divine judgments, rewards, and punishments (John 5:29; 1 Corinthians 3:11-15; 1 Corinthians 15:51-58; 2 Corinthians 5:6-10; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18; 2 John 8; Revelation 19, 20).
  10. Unity. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Galatians 3:26-28).
  11. Christian Conduct. We believe that the supreme task of every believer is to glorify God in his life. The believer should live blamelessly before the world, be a faithful steward of his possessions, and seek to realize for himself the full stature of maturity in Christ (1 Corinthians 10:31; Colossians 1:28; 1 Timothy 6:6-9; 1 Peter 1:14-15).
  12. Church Involvement. Families must be active members of a local church (i.e. a group of believers meeting on a routine basis, submitted to the authority of a pastor/elder in which they receive teaching, accountability, and encouragement in God’s Word) in order to stand firm in uncompromising biblical convictions (Hebrews 10:24-25; 13:7, 17; I Timothy 4:13; Acts 2:42).

Summary of the Statement of Faith Addendum:

  1. We affirm that all persons (born and unborn) are created in the image and likeness of God and thus possess inherent dignity and worth.
  2. We affirm that marriage is the covenantal union of one man and one woman (exclusively), for life.
  3. We affirm that Scripture teaches that sexual intimacy is reserved for marriage as defined above. This excludes all other forms of sexual intimacy.
  4. We affirm that God created men and women, imbued with the distinct traits of manhood and womanhood, and that each is an unchangeable gift of God that constitutes personal identity.
