Save the Date for Dodge for DC! Feb 13th, 2023.
KPA’s Favorite Fundraiser is FINALLY here! Grab your friends, classmates, coaches, favorite teacher, cousins, dads, dads' cousins, maybe even your spunky grandma, and get your team together for DODGE for DC! The tournament is Monday, February 13. Click on the link to sign up!
This is a really fun KPA tradition which helps raise money for the 8th grade D.C. trip. Don’t miss out! You don't have to be a KPA student to play.
Teams consist of 6-10 players, and it’s only $20 per player/per team. All teams are encouraged to dress alike along a theme, and you get to choose a theme song and team name. The team with the best theme wins a prize!
The LOB (3rd grade and under) division will start at 4:00. The FLING (7th grade and under) and PEG (spunky grandmas and any other brave souls) divisions will start at 6:00 so play won't affect work or athletics practice.
The concession stand will be open! Come have some fun and support our 8th graders!!

Grammar School News
Kinder, 1st and 2nd continued learning about snow in Nature Study this week. They observed snowflakes up close to see how God designed each one uniquely. They also got to create their own snowflake patterns and hidden snowflake crystal paintings.
Third grade took a field trip to the Planetarium and Texas Tech Museum this week. They learned about our solar system, wild weather, toured the Biome Gallery, and talked with a real life paleontologist about fossils found right here in Lubbock!
Over Christmas Break, Wyatt Grappe, 3rd Grade, wrestled in the United States Junior Open Championship in Oklahoma City. This tournament had 13 states represented and 2420 wrestlers competing. He competed in the Open 8U, 83 pounds. He got 5th place. His team brought 16 wrestlers, 8 made it to the finals, and they placed 13th out of 170 teams.

1st grade Nature Study fun with Mrs. Hall!
Kinder, 1st and 2nd grade continued their “Winter” unit in Friday Enrichment this week. They learned about how God uses beauty, patterns and science to create snow.
Friday Enrichment Drama did activities to review some of their theater skills from last semester including character objective, improv, pantomiming and stage presence.
5th Grade learning about WW2.
Ivy Montandon brought in a first aid kit that belonged to her grandpa from his time in the army during World War II.
Upper School News
This year KPA entered 18 pieces in the Scholastic Art & Writing Competition. They won 9 awards!
Awards are as follows:
Kara Hawthorne (11) - Gold Key, two Silver Keys
Naomi Sell (10) - two Silver Keys, one Honorable Mention
Caleb Poe (11) - Silver Key
Isaiah Baier (11) - Gold Key
Lilly Vazquez (9) - Honorable Mention
It was an awesome weekend of amazing performances of the CITA production Reborn. Several KPA students were in it (including Autumn) and did a fantastic job!

3rd grade went on a Scavenger Hunt during science to discover facts about sound energy during their “Matter and Sound” unit!
4th grade attended the student showing of Ballet Lubbock’s The Nutcracker for their Christmas party and then enjoyed cupcakes afterwards!

Fall of 2022 Virtue Award Winners.
In the Fall of 2022, KPA introduced a new student recognition called the Student Awards for Virtue. These awards are bestowed four times a year and are based on teacher nominations of Upper School students for their exemplary commitment to one of the core school virtues.
